Belitsa

The municipality of Belitsa is located in Southwestern Bulgaria at the foot of the beautiful Rila Mountain. Passing though Belitsa is a road connecting Belitsa with the two main roads in Bulgaria, International roads E-79 Sofia – Athens and E-80 Sofia – Plovdiv – Svilengrad – Istanbul. The city borders the municipalities of Bansko, Razlog, Samokov, Yakoruda and Velingrad.

Part of the municipality enters the Rila National Park. The region extends ones imagination with its high rised mountainous peaks reaching heights of over 2500 meters, beautiful clear glacial lakes and a wonderful atmosphere of deep incision mountain river valleys covered with extensive coniferous nature are all something to boast about.

The territory of Belitsa home to the region of Andrianov Prom, has accumulated recently a family of dancing bears, or known to locals as the dancing bears park. The bears are protected and are provided with the environment close to their natural lifestyle.

Much of the villages of the municipality Belitsa are located in higher parts of the Western Rhodopes.

In recent years, Belitsa has developed as a tourist center of Eco-tourism and recreation all year-round in the Rila Mountains.

Virgin nature and a well developed tourist infrastructure allow Belitsa to offer interesting events throughout the year to its visitors.

The region of Belitsa consists of six marked tourist paths, two of which enter the Rila National Park, passing through the different ecosystems and alternating in the plant and animal communities.

For the visitors, Belitsa offers a network of hotels and holiday homes tailored for maximum comfort at the foot of the Rila Mountain.
