Bansko Puts up its Easter Decorations
Bansko has a rich cultural program lined up for the upcoming holy Christian holidays. It kicks off with the performance "Bright April 1st" which combines the holidays of Palm Sunday and April Fools on April 1. Amateur groups from the Nikola Vaptsarov community center have prepared a special program depicting the spring celebrations as seen through the prism of the characteristic Bansko humor and dialect.
The Easter-themed folklore ritual that's become a favorite for all students in the mountain town will be held on April 5 (Maundy Thursday) at Velyanova Kushta museum. Alongside the historians from Museum Complex Bansko and their colleagues from Nikola Vaptsarov community center, the children of Bansko are going to knead Easter bread loaves and cozonacs, paint eggs with natural dyes and have fun, above all.
Folklore performer Angelina Mileva is going to be the honored guest at the resort town for the big Easter celebration. With her concert, scheduled for April 8 at 11:30 at the central square, the young singer, who is a pupil of Thracian folklore singer Diana Ivanova, will be serving up a plethora of brilliant folklore performances.
In keeping with Easter traditions, there will be an egg fighting contest and the winner will face off against mayor Georgi Ikonomov in a one on one. And just like every year, the person with the strongest egg will be presented with a tasty surprise - a basket full of Easter goodies.
