Bansko ski area is preparing for the coming season

There are 186 snow guns and fully cleaned ski runs that are waiting for the tourists in ski zone Bansko. This year the improvement of the ski tracks and runs cost over 3 million leva. In the last 3 years the maintenance of the ski tracks and slopes cost 10 million leva.

The improvement of the skiing area is one of the most important points in the concession contract of “Ulen” and the company strictly implements it. The ultramodern technology used by NATO to strengthen the slopes already has given the expected results.

Almost all ski runs have already been covered with a grass. The cultivation of the area is coordinated according to the recommendations of the International Ski Federation and the new European standards for environmental development of the ski centers.

As a result of the hard work in the summer all ski routes are cleaned from stones and grass. Skiing will be possible even with a minimum snow cover.

From this season there are 186 snow guns, which are located in all 19 ski runs in Bansko.

In Bansko ski area will be organized the super giant slalom for the women’s World Cup on 28 February and 1 March 2009. The start, which is on the highest rank of FIS, is the first for Bulgaria since 1984.

Hotel “Avalon”, owned by James Hugges, and park “Pirin” prepared the routes for mountain biking.
