Bansko is full of students for the National Student Day
08.12.2008
8th of December is a holiday of all Bulgarian students. For the first time it was celebrated in 1903 as a holiday in the first Bulgarian university. The decision was taken from the Academic Council on 30 November 1902.
The celebration was canceled after 1944 and replaced with Nov. 17 - the International Day of Student Solidarity. In 1962 8th of December was restored.
On the 28th of October 1994, the council of rectors, decided that the 8th of December should be free of lectures for all Bulgarian students. Because of that, today Bansko is overflowing with young people, who are here to have fun on their holiday event. All hotels and restaurants have been reserved for months for that special date.
