Avalanche fell in Bansko ski region

Avalanche left a skier under the snow in Bansko ski zone in Pirin mountain in the early hours of January 28 2009, the mountain rescue service told.

The boy was skiing together with a girl in the Banderishka Polyana region beneath the Todorka peak when the avalanche fell. The mountain rescue was contacted at about 10.55 am.

The girl remained out of avalanche's reach, but the boy was not that fortunate and is still missing. Several rescue teams with search dogs are investigating the area.

No information about other people being caught by the avalanche has been received.
