One Hour Less Sofia - Bansko Drive

It will take one hour less to drive from Sofia to Bansko thanks to the opening of a new 39 - m - long section of Strouma highway. The construction works have finally finished and yesterday the section was officially opened. It is a part of Bulgaria's transit infrastructure and a 54 million euro project Transit Road - 3 on Strouma highway connecting Sofia and Koulata, southwestern Bulgarian border with an extension to Thessalonica, Greece. Yesterday the first sod of a new highway " Luylin" was turned. First section of the highway, crossing Bulgaria in the west, should be finished by the next year, the whole highway should be ready in three years' time, it will reduce the heavy road traffic on the Sofia's ring road.
