Russian market less sensitive to overbuilding of mountain resorts
The small hotels in Bulgaria's mountain resorts are most affected by uncontrolled construction, the CEO of Penguin Travel, Dimitar Popov, said at a conference on the development of mountain tourism. The event was organised by the Pari daily.
The occupancy rate of a hotel in Bansko has fallen from more than 70% to 30% now, he said. Overall occupancy of small hotels may shrink by half. They cannot offer additional services like spa which big hotels use to attract clients, Popov pointed out.
Bulgaria should focus on the Russian market, which is not so sensitive to the resorts' overconstruction. Russians still look for something new and luxurious, Popov said. Pari.bg
