A ski instructor from Bansko was killed by an avalanche

The Mountain Rescue Service in Bansko reported that today at 13.30 an avalanche buried a ski teacher Ivan Popov from Bansko. The avalanche fell from the top to Todorka Bunderishka meadow.

The man was riding a snowboard at the Todorka peak. The area is outside the ski area and therefore is absolutely forbidden to practice winter sports there.

Probably a slight increase in temperature had caused the avalanche. An alert went to the PSI to go to the scene of an accident at the same place on the same date last year where a 28 year old skier from Sofia, Victor Gerbev also died.
