Bansko Says Goodbye to the Winter Season, Prepares for Summer
Bansko sent off a very successful winter season and is now preparing for considerable numbers of tourists this summer with the busy festival program, announced mayor Georgi Ikonomov in front of the Bulgarian News Agency.
The mayor noted that each subsequent summer and winter season turns out ever more prosperous for the ski resort. After the end of winter, Bansko records having over 20 000 more visits and according to official statistics, the number of tourists were about 700 000. The number of tourists may be a lot higher because the current count is only for officially registered hotel bookings.
There is also an evident increase in the number of Turkish tourists visiting Bansko, in comparison to last winter. Ikonomov shares that they choose the exhibitions very carefully in which to present the resort town. The main exhibitions are in Istanbul, Izmir, Israel. Bansko also traditionally participates in forums in Belgrade, Skopje, Bucharest, Moscow, Berlin, Kavala.

Bansko's efforts to transform into a year-long tourist destination are tremendous.
Besides the traditional jazz fest, the opera and theater festivals have been confirmed. This year the program will be complemented by Balkan festival Bohemi, as well as Bansko Beat.
